Kate Rose has been writing songs when she was 11. After playing one of her originals at a recital for the the now defunct Rock School KC- she was approached by Michael "Seven" Summers, the in-house producer at Strange Music about writing with some artists on the label. At 15, Kate wrote and recorded the hook that became part of the song "A Certain Comfort" that appear on Tech N9ne's Special Effects album. She went on to write a hook and bridge on the song "House of Cards" from Black Ink, an album by another Strange Music rapper that goes by Prozak. When putting together songs from The Storm, Tech N9ne's latest solo album, Seven used verses from one of Kate's original songs and Tech's rap to create the song "Hold On Me."
